Podiatry foot shot

Our Podiatry Service is a regional centre of excellence, receiving referrals both locally and nationally. The service provides specialist foot and ankle care with appropriate surgical and conservative management pathways. The department blends the skill mix of its personnel to offer a spectrum of specialist care covering surgery of the foot and ankle, lower limb sports injuries and the “at risk foot” (diabetic and rheumatoid). It is renowned for its excellent clinical skills and patient care.

In outpatients the Podiatry department sees on average 5,500 patients and operates on 700 per year. The operations are performed utilising regional local anaesthetic blocks or general anaesthesia depending on the patients’ preference. We provide outreach clinics to both Teddington and Hillingdon Hospitals. The department is a recognised research and teaching centre which is proactive in evaluation, audit and publication. It is a national examination centre for podiatric surgery and has a successful training programme in both undergraduate and post graduate education. It also runs an exchange programme with the Veterans Hospital Chicago.

As well as having clinics at West Middlesex Hospital, outreach clinics are also held in Hillingdon Hospital, Teddington Memorial Hospital and Chiswick Health Centre.
