Maxillofacial Prosthetics Service

The Maxillofacial Prosthetics Service is part of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department - see the separate section of this website.

 

We provide scientific and advisory services to patients for their rehabilitation by constructing and using implants, splints and prosthesis.

Richard Lory MIMPT LCGI– Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist and Technologist.

General Dental Council registered Dental Care Professional. GDC no. 151437.

 

Referrals

Patients are referred to the Central Outpatients Booking Team (COBT) by healthcare professionals: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Ophthalmologists, Ear Nose and Throat, Breast Care Services, Respiratory Medicine and General Practioners.

Key areas of Prosthetic and Technical Provision are: 

  • Following cranio-facial reconstruction

  • Congenital malformations of the face

  • Jaw and head/neck malignancies

  • Breast and body reconstruction

 

Outpatient Service Provision:  

 

  • Artificial eyes including scleral eyes

  • Facial prostheses (implant retained or medical adhesive) e.g. ear, nasal, orbital

  • Intra-oral prostheses, e.g. maxillary obturators

  • Nipple prostheses

  • Finger prostheses

The department is registered with Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
