The main contact numbers are 020 8321 6268 / 5872

Location

We are located at the back of the main hospital atrium, on the left hand side beyond the pharmacy dispensary.

Clinics and clinic times

The centre is open Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 5.00pm (7pm on Tuesdays). However, not all services are available from this time. Please check with the department first.

The department is fully digitised which enables scanned images to be transmitted directly to computers located in the department and around the hospital. This means that diagnosis time is greatly reduced, as patients do not have to wait for X-ray plates to be processed.  Our image exchange portal allows image transfer to specialist centres if required

Facilities:

  • Digital radiography for all plain films including evaluating suspected fractures, chest infections and a number of other conditions

  • Four ultrasound machines used for a range of soft tissue imaging including general abdominal / pelvic work, diagnosis of sports injuries, suspected deep vein thrombosis and early detection of prostate and breast cancers. We also use ultrasound to guide a number of interventional procedures such as biopsy of the liver and drain insertion

  • Fluoroscopy suites used principally for barium procedures (including swallows, meals, follow-throughs and enemas) for patients with gastrointestinal symptoms , as well as for hysterosalpingograms

  • Two multislice CT scanners, allowing fast and accurate diagnosis in a wide range of conditions including the early detection of cancer. The hospital was one of the first imaging centres in the UK to have this technology

  • 1.5T MRI scanner, which is most frequently used to investigate neurological or musculoskeletal problems (frequently knee and back symptoms). We also perform a wide range of body imaging including cancer staging in rectal cancer, gynaecology cancers and prostate and bladder cancers as well as breast imaging.

  • Mammography service for symptomatic diagnosis of breast pain, lumps and early detection of cancer . Ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy facilities.

  • Angiography suite for performing complex interventional procedures including vascular, hepatobilliary and urology intervention
