Japan Airlines cabin crew bring toys to Starlight Ward

Christmas came early this year for children staying on Starlight Ward at West Middlesex University Hospital.

Cabin crew from Japan Airlines brought a trolley full of toys and games to help brighten up the children’s stay at this festive time of year.

Some of the patients they called in on included Harry Samways from Feltham, aged one year and 11 months, and seven-year-old Sam Newbold from Twickenham.

Six-year-old Ryan Farah from Hampton Hill is being treated for a chest infection. His mum Ghada explained that he was a bit worried about staying in hospital for Christmas.

Ryan was delighted to receive some of the gifts and said they were “fantastic”.

Toys will also go to children in other parts of the hospital’s children’s services thanks to the generous donation from staff at Japan Airlines’ Heathrow Airport base.

Japan Airlines regularly makes donations to the hospital at special times of the year such as Christmas and Easter.

Cabin crew members Deena Green and Gregory Barras dit Dupont came along to donate the toys.

Deena said: “We are happy to make our annual Christmas visit to the Starlight Children’s Ward at West Middlesex University Hospital on behalf of Japan Airlines.

“We feel empathy for children in hospital at this special time of year, and love to see the smiles on their faces when we give out the presents. Merry Christmas everyone!”
