West Middlesex’s Charity

Charity Registration No. 1061153

Supporting local hospitals with charitable donations is not a new concept: the first hospitals in the UK were actually established because of voluntary donations.  Today, all NHS hospitals are funded by the Government, however that doesn’t mean that there is not still a place for donations. West Middlesex has been the beneficiary of many very generous donations over the years, which have enabled us to buy specialist  medical equipment, offer additional training and development  opportunities to staff, as well as improving the patient environment.

The West Middlesex provides healthcare to its local community. We deliver over 4,300 babies; perform around 10,000 operations; see 47,000 inpatients; have almost 240,000 outpatient appointment; and treat in excess of 100,000 emergencies a year.  We are continuously striving to improve patient care and your continued support will help us to do this.

Donations

The Charitable fund relies heavily on donations from members of the local community, or people with an interest to increase the number of projects that we are able to support. Here are just a few examples of how your generosity could help West Middlesex:

  • £40,000 will buy a new ultra sound machine for the Breast Cancer Unit
  • £500 will buy a wheelchair
  • £300 will fund a new sofa for the children's unit
  • £200 will buy an original piece of artwork to help improve the patient environment
  • £200 will fund a Christmas party for inpatients
  • £10 will buy bulbs for the Memorial Garden

Bereavement Suite

Queen Mary’s Maternity Unit at West Middlesex Hospital is dedicated to providing the best possible care for parents when their baby dies.

Queen Mary’s Maternity Unit at West Middlesex Hospital working with West London Sands wish to create a Bereavement Suite to provide facilities and enable professional and specialist support to take place in a quieter, more homely space.  West London Sands has been working closely with this Unit at West Middlesex Hospital since January 2000 and now wish to raise the estimated £25k to achieve this aim and we are very grateful for any donation towards the project.

It is intended that the new Bereavement Suite will provide a delivery room with sleeping area for both parents/partners, an en-suite bathroom and an adjoining nurses room so that baby can remain close by.  We also hope to provide space for siblings, which will allow precious time together as a family.
