Privacy and dignity for patients
Your privacy and dignity are very important to us. To ensure that these standards are met, we will:
-
care for you in a single room or a bay with others of the same sex, in all general ward areas (the only exception to this are in Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU), Coronary Care, High Dependency or Acute Assessment areas, if you need specialist care)
-
provide separate washrooms/showers and toilet facilities for each sex
-
use signs to ask visitors to seek your permission before entering your room or behind a closed curtain
-
tell you what we are going to do before we do it and ensure that your dignity is upheld by covering you a gown or blanket when being examined
Postponement of operations
If you are having an operation, it is sometimes necessary to postpone operations due to extreme emergency pressures. Our staff will keep you informed if this is the case, but please talk to the staff if you have any questions.
