A&E clinical quality indicators

The Department of Health has asked all NHS Trusts to publish a set of indicators that are intended to help patients understand how hospital A&E departments are performing on measures of clinical quality. The indicators are:

• Total time spent in A&E

• Time to initial assessment

• Time to treatment

• Left without being seen rate
• Unplanned re-attendance rate
• Senior consultant sign-off

• Ambulatory Care

These indicators, together with a commentary to assist patients in interpreting the information, will be published here every month.
